What to do if something happens during your Carwiz rental
At Carwiz, we understand that unexpected things can happen while you're on the road. Here’s a friendly guide on what to do if something comes up during your rental.
EMERGENCY SYSTEM in Croatia
Croatia has developed a single emergency system available 24/7 by calling 112. Phone number 112 is the European emergency line, used in all EU Member States and in most third countries. You can dial it directly from any telephone device, regardless of your telecommunications network. Please call this number only when you need urgent help, for instance when your life is in immediate danger, or if someone is seriously injured and needs prompt medical attention, or if you have witnessed a serious crime like assault, robbery or a break-in.
1. Vehicle Issues or Accidents
- Stay Calm and Contact Us: If you experience any issues with the vehicle or get into an accident, please contact Carwiz technical support right away. We’re here to help you with everything from roadside assistance to reporting the accident and, if needed, arranging a replacement vehicle.
- Gather Information: In the event of an accident, make sure to collect all necessary documents, such as police reports and accident forms. These will help us process everything smoothly.
2. Lost Documents, License Plates, or Keys
- Reach Out Immediately: If you lose any important items like the vehicle’s documents, license plates, or keys, inform us as soon as possible. We’ll guide you on the next steps and arrange replacements if necessary.
3. Extending Your Rental Period
- Notify in Advance: If you need more time with the car, just let us know at least 48 hours before your rental period ends. We’ll be happy to extend it for you, and the cost will be based on our current rates.
4. Returning the Vehicle to a Different Location
- Inform Us: If you decide to return the vehicle to a different location, please inform us in advance. Additional fees might apply, but we’ll make the process as smooth as possible.
5. Fuel Issues
- Wrong Fuel Type: If you accidentally put the wrong type of fuel in the car, do not start the engine. Contact Carwiz technical support for assistance.
- Out of Fuel: If you run out of fuel, find a safe spot to stop, use your hazard lights, and place the warning triangle a safe distance behind the car. Refill with the correct fuel, and if the car still doesn’t start, get in touch with our technical support team.
6. Breakdown or Malfunction
- Ensure Your Safety: If the vehicle breaks down, pull over to a safe area, turn on your hazard lights, and wear your reflective vest. Place the warning triangle behind the car to alert other drivers.
- Call for Help: Contact Carwiz technical support with details such as your vehicle’s registration number and location. If the issue can’t be fixed within 24 hours, we’ll arrange a replacement vehicle or alternative transport for you.
7. Additional Drivers or Equipment
- Easy Add-ons: Need to add another driver or rent extra equipment like a GPS or child seat? Just visit a Carwiz office. We’ll handle the details and inform you about any additional fees, or call the office directly.
8. Returning the Vehicle
- Final Check: When you return the car, our staff will inspect it. If there are any damages, we’ll document them and let you know about any charges, complete with photos and explanations. If you return the car after hours using a key box, please note that additional charges may apply if damages are found later.
